Denly, Wellington, is ing her daughter, Mrs Dewhurst, Hamilton. Mrs C. R. Corfe, Christchurch, was a recent visitor to Hamilton en route to Rotorua. Mrs A. D. Welsh, Wellington, is visiting Hamilton and is the* guest of Mrs A. D. Lincoln. Mrs W. Patterson, Hamilton, is visiting Hastings this week-end for the Woodford House re-union. Mrs T. A. Milroy, Hamilton, is a visitor to Hastings this week-end for the Woodford House re-union. Miss Nora Dickie, who recently returned from a trip to England, is spending a few days in Hamilton. Mrs G. Lloyd, Te Aroha, has been appointed secretary to the Te Aroha branch of the Red Cross Society. Misses Pat and Bid Farrer,. Hamilton, are attending the Woodford House re-union this week-end at Hastings. Mrs John Page, who has been visiting her parents, Col. and Mrs P. H. Bell, has left for Hong Kong to join her husband. * • • • Mrs Colin Taylor returns to Hamilton this week-end from a holiday spent at Rotorua. • * • • Miss Violet Jolly, who recently returned from a trip through Australia, China and Japan, has taken a position at the Dental Clinic at Te Awamutu. • • * • Mr and Mrs P. W. Maddock, of Wellington and formerly of Hamilton, entertained a number of young people at a cocktail party to celebrate the debut of their younger daughter, Patricia. After this cheery curtain-raiser many of the guests went on to the Centennial Ball, • Patricia wearing a bouffant frock of blush-pink organza. A Leaders’ Recreation Association has been formed in Hamilton under the Physical Welfare and Recreation branch of the New Zealand Government Health Department, with the object of members taking a course in training in recreational work under the direction of Miss Rona Stephenson, who has recently returned from America. The course, which commences on November 7, aims at completing 100 hours of training. Practically all the women’s organisations have nominated members to train as leaders, in order to pass on their knowledge to their Organisations. * * * * An enjoyable concert party organised by Mrs H. D. Caro visited Hopu Hopu camp on Thursday. Mrs A. C. Lavington arranged the programme, which was # much appreciated. The items were as follows: -*-Songs, Mrs S. Bennett; elocutionary items, Mrs V. Linder; tap dance, Miss A. Docherty; piano-accordion, Mr R. Edwards; songs, Miss M. Leach; mouth-organ solo, Mr Leckie; songs, Mrs Tibbet and Miss J. Brighouse; ventriloquism, Mr Meyer;
songs, Mr Ken Sandford. The men were later entertained at supper by I Mr and Mrs Caro. CAMBRIDGE ;s Mervyn Wells has been visitAuckland. .vTrs C. Crist, Whangarei, is the jest of Mrs F. Kingsford. Miss Iva Garland, Matamata, is visiting Mrs A. R. Batchelor. Mrs John Reilly, Howick, is visiting her mother, Mrs Norman Banks. Mrs C. W. Garrard is staying with her daughter-in-law, Mrs W. R. Garrard. Mrs S. J. Harbutt, Mount Albert, is visiting her sister, Mrs W. Harbutt, of “Rosebank.” OTOROHANGA Mrs C. Knoblock, Waipawa, is the guest of her mother, Mrs C. Rust. Mrs A. A. Macfarlane has returned after three weeks’ holiday in Otorohanga. Mrs M. Sanderson, who has been the guest of Mrs F. Phillips, has returned to Auckland. Mrs Gaftan, Wellington, who has been the guest of Mrs A. A. Macfarians, has returned home. OKOROIRE Mrs McGregor, Auckland, is a visitor to Okoroire Springs. Miss Wilmer Wilton, Auckland, has been the guest of Mrs N. R. Beeson. Miss J. O’Conner, Rotorua, was the guest of Miss L. Harwood, for a few days. Miss Patricia Oldbury, Remuera, is visiting her cousin, Miss P. Barker, Tapapa. Miss June McLaren has returned home from a visit to Miss J. Wells, at Rotorua. Mrs H. Jones and Miss Faith Newton, Auckland, were recent visitors to Okoroire. Miss Jean Carruth has returned to “Stanley Park” from a holiday visit to Auckland. Miss Grace Kennedy, Walton, was the guest of Miss Eve Bellamy over the week-end. Miss Lilah Harwood, Rotorua, is spending a vacation at her home, Okoroire Springs. * * • * Mrs Wright and Miss Gorrie, who have been holidaying in Auckland, returned home this week. Mrs E. J. Brown and Miss Elsa Brown, Auckland, have been spending a few days at “Selwyn Park.” AT WHITIKAHU Mrs Wilkie, Ohura, is visiting Mrs W. Boyce. Mrs R. B. Law has returned from Auckland. * m m # Mrs S. Preest is on holiday at Milford, Auckland. Mrs S. Cope has returned to her
home in Auckland . * * * * Mrs Leith has returned to her home in Auckland. Miss Best' has returned home after spending a holiday at Te Kauwhata. Mrs W. Bennett, Ngaruawahia, visited Mrs McCallum during the week. Misses E. and N. Fitzgerald, Auckland, were recent guests of Mrs W. Aiken. Mrs Charles Tuckwell, and family, Australia, have been the guests of Miss Nicholson. Mrs Charles Tuckwell and Miss Nicholson have been visiting Auckland and Rotorua. * * * * Mrs W. Hansen recently held a 21st. birthday party in honour of her son Daniel, when amusements included dancing and games. Musical items by Mrs Beckett, the Misses Beckett and Mr Beckett were appreciated and added to the evening’s enjoyment. During supper Mr W. Aiken presented the guest-of-honour with the traditional key.
