INTERVIEWING APPLICANTS COMMITTEE’S ITINERARY SOUTH AUCKLAND FIXTURES (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced to-day that arrangements have been made for the selection committee of the Royal New Zealand Air Force to interview applicants throughout New Zealand who have applied for war service as pilots, air observers or air gunners, The committee will visit the various centres as follows: North Island.—Palmerston North, November 9 and 10; Marton, 10th; Wanganui, 11th; Hawera, 13th; New Plymouth, 13th and 14th; Te Kuiti, 14th; Te Awamutu, 14th; Hamilton, 15th and 16th; Auckland, 17th and 23rd; Whangarei, 24th; Paeroa, 27th; Tauranga, 28th; Rotorua, 28th; Whakatane, 28th; Gisborne, 30th; Wairoa, December 1; Napier, Ist and 2nd; Dannevirke, 4th; Masterton, 4th; Wellington, 19th and 23rd. South Island.—Blenheim, December 6; Nelson, 6th; Westport, 7th; Invercargill, Bth and 9th; Dunedin, 11th and 12th; Oamaru. 13th; Timaru, 13th; Ashburton, 14th; Christchurch, 14th and loth. Applicants who are to be interviewed on this occasion will receive notification of the time and place at which they are required to appear before the committee. Approximately 1700 candidates are to be interviewed and it is proposed to arrange for medical examination of successful applicants as soon as possible after selection. With few exceptions applicants to be interviewed on the preseht tour will not be required to report for training until after the New Year. Completed applications received since the closing date of the present list, October 14, will be considered by the committee on a subsequent tour.
