DROVE NEGLIGENTLY

MAORI BUSHMAN FINED SEQUEL TO COLLISION As a result of a collision on the Ohaupo Road on August 28, a Maori bushman, Peter Tawha, appeared before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, Hamilton, to-day on a charge of negligent driving. Tawha was also charged with driving without a license and pleaded guilty to both counts.

Senior-Sergeant G. H. Lambert stated that at an intersection Tawha failed to give way to traffic on the right and collided with another car. He did not stop to see if anyone were injured, but carried on. The police had considerable difficulty in locating him. He took the car from Frankton, but was not being charged with conversion. He was travelling at 25 miles an hour at the intersection. Tawha was lined £5 and costs on the first charge and 10s and costa on the second.
