JUST MISSED PEDESTRIAN
MOTOR CYCLIST FINED “ DID NOT NOTICE ANYONE ” Having failed to stop at a pedestrian crossing, a Tuhikaramea motorcyclist, Norman Clark Fitzpatrick, a farmer, jvas convicted and fined £5 and costs when he appeared before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, to-day. Senior-Sergeant G. H. Lambert prosecuted. Constable A. Paterson said he was riding a bicycle along Victoria Street about 8.50 a.m. on September 30 when he had to stop at the railway crossing pedestrian zone to allow two women to cross. Fitzpatrick shot past and missed hitting one of the pedestrians by only two feet. Fitzpatrick later gave a statement to Constable J. Hedley, who stated in evidence that the defendant said he had not noticed anyone on the crossing.
