ESTATE AGENTS

CHANGES IN COUNCIL (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday There was still a great shortage of homes in the Dominion said the president of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand, Mr G. B. Osmond, at the annual meeting of the institute at the Chamber of Commerce to-day. Referring to the membership of the institute, Mr Osmond said more members were needed and could be obtained in the larger centres if concentrated effort were made. This matter was important, as a big membership would undoubtedly help in attaining the chief objective of the institute—the amendment of the Land Agents Act. The meeting was held in Auckland for the first time in seven years. As the annual conference had been postponed, it was decided that the various officers should, continue in office until the next conference. There are three changes in the council of the institute. Mr H. B. Harper fills the vacancy for the Auckland district caused by the death of Mr P. Balgarnie, Mr L. J. T. Ireland has been appointed an additional councillor for the Otago district, and ftlr D. M. Scandrett has been appointed councillor for the Southland district in place of Mr J. T. Carswell, who has resigned.
