AERIAL ACTIVITY

ON THE WESTERN FRONT THE BRITISH SECTOR CONSIDERED IMPREGNABLE United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 31 The bad weather has broken on the Western Front and flying has been resumed on a much larger scale. The French press this morning refers to the renewal of aerial activity, and says that many air battles took place yesterday. Part of this activity was centred on the British line. Anti-aircraft fire brought down one German machine behind the line. British troops had their first experience of an air raid warning yesterday. The all clear signal was given half an hour later. The Petit Parisien publishes an uncorroborated report that General von Brauchitsch, Commander-in-Chief of the German Army, has resigned. The British sector, writes a correspondent, is impregnable. This was not so at the beginning of the war, but it has been greatly strengthened' in the past few weeks. The British forces are almost entirely below the ground. Most of the medium guns are in position. Heavier guns are being brought up to the front line. Christmas leave for the British troops will begin early in December. The duration of the leave will depend upon the position at the time.
