LITTLE RAIN

OCTOBER CONDITIONS NO LACK OF SUNSHINE Little rain fell in the Waikato last month, and the total recording in Hamilton was 2.62in, almost two inches below the average for the month of 4.52in. On the whole October provided an auspicious opening to the summer season, periods of bright sunshine being experienced more frequently than is often the case in the early summer. Temperatures remained on a fairly high plane during the greater part of last month. Although extremes were avoided, cold winds resulted in less pleasant conditions towards the end of the month. Night temperatures were generally mild, while on some days almost midsummer heat was reached.
