APPEAL FOR AMBULANCE
MOCK ACCIDENT STAGED TE AWAMUTU BRIGADE (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday During the visit of a motor ambulance from Auckland, the Te Awamutu Ambulance Brigade undertook a street collection and canvass for the purpose of raising funds for the purchase of an ambulance to be stationed at Te Awamutu. Owing to a misundertanding, the arrival of the ambulance was unexpected last Thursday and hurried arrangements had to be made and no publicity was given. However, the result was, in the circumstances, gratifying, the sum of £54 16s being collected on Friday and £8 13s on Saturday morning. The effort was assisted on Friday evening by a mock accident, the victim of a street accident receiving a broken leg. A call was made for the ambulance and the full-time from the call to the placing of the victim with his leg in splints in tlie ambulance was seven minutes.
The organisation will arrange for another appeal at a later date. The cost of an ambulance will be £4OO and it is anticipated that there will be a ready and generous response at the appropriate time. Under present conditions, the call for an ambulance has to be made to Hamilton.
