NEW ZEALANDERS
FORCE FORMED IN LONDON GOOD WORK AS AIRMEN MANY OFFERS OF SERVICE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 30, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 29 The enrolment of New Zealanders for New Zealand overseas forces is progressing. A New Zealand Men’s Society and a Women’s Society are being organised for the welfare of soldiers here and those coming. Royal Air Force officers are unanimous that youngsters from New Zealand, Australia and other Dominions show amazing facility in mastering the art of flying. Volunteers from Taranaki tell of their countrymen’s eagerness to get on with the job, and are hopeful of becoming fully-fledged pilots in three months. A New Zealand House official states that a New Zealand contingent is being formed in London, and he expects its embodiment within two or three weeks. Over 500 offers for service have already been received, and others are coming from all parts of Britain. Many Australians have tried to join, but have been regretfully turned down because the force is restricted to bona fide New Zealanders.
