Mr R. T. Reid, of Hamilton, who has been visiting Sydney, has returned. Mr C. C. Ross has returned to Hamilton from a tour of England, Europe and America. Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, arrived from Wellington by the limited express this morning. Mr H. T. C. Gomer, of Hawera, chief stipendiary steward to the New Zealand Racing Conference, was in Hamilton today. Messrs K. Little, I. Matheson (Wellington), G. B. Tompkinson (Auckland) and W. Moore (Gisborne) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Lieutenant R. R. Atkinson, of the Waikato Mounted Rifles, has been promoted to captain, according to the New Zealand Gazette. Mr Val Kirk has been elected chairman of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. Mr D. Robertson, of the produce department of Wright, Stephenson and Company, Limited, has arrived in Hamilton on transfer from Oamaru. The Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, who left for England towards the end of May on a health recruiting trip following an operation, has not yet fully recovered. He mentions this in a letter to the Ven. Archdeacon Bullock, Vicar-General of the Wellington Diocese. Mr C. C. Banfield, a member of the staff of the Hamilton branch of the Money Order and Savings Bank, who was married today, was presented with a clock by members of the staff. The presentation was made by the accountant, Mr A. W. Clifford. Mr Banfield has been in Hamilton about three months, having been transferred from Wellington.
