WARTIME ACTIVITIES

LADIES’ GUILD FORMED Furthering the activities of the St. John Ambulance Association, a number of ladies were present at the St. John Ambulance Station, Ward Street, on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 28, for the purpose of forming a Ladies’ Guild. Mr T. Parker, chairman of the Hamilton branch of the St. John Ambulance Association, opened the meeting and extended a warm welcome to all present. On behalf of the association, he thanked the ladies for the work that they intended to carry out and stated that the executive committee would render all assistance possible. Mr Parker suggested that a president of the newly formed guild be elected and Mrs Cobb was appointed to this office. Mrs Cobb then took the chair and Mr Parker retired after being given a hearty vote of thanks. Officers Elected Officers of the guild committee are as follows:—President, Mrs Cobb; vice-presidents, Mesdames Parker and Valder; secretary and treasurer, Mrs J. Scobie; committee, Mesdames Huse, Hawkins, Wigzell, Rockell, Lindrum, Elmsley and Miss Litchwark. It was suggested that a Medical Comforts branch be started and the guild will be grateful for any donations of old linen, woollen garments or medical comforts of any kind.
