WOMEN’S GOLF
WEATHER CONDITIONS IMPROVE With the coming of better weather conditions those players who have been playing consistently during the season are now beginning to produce reducing scores. On Wednesday Mrs V. D. Edwards returned a 91 which, with an 88 and another 91, gives her a senior handicap of 18. As she started with a 5 and finished with two sixes it is evident that she will reduce still further before the season is over. On Wednesday also Miss E. Wright broke 100 for the first time with a 98, reducing her handicap by two strokes to 26 and giving her a 70 net to win the junior medal round. On Friday Miss Joan Endean rose from the C grade ranks by returning a 104 to earn a 32 handicap; and on the same day Mrs J. A. Thomas reduced by three strokes to 29. Last week Mrs F. Taylor, whose play varies very little from day to day, came down another stroke to 26. Medal Round in Senior Division The best gross score of recent weeks was played on Wednesday by Mrs Mander, whose 79 gave her a 75 net and won the medal round in 'the senior division. Good ringers acquired recently are a 2 at the 10th, played by Mrs S. Bennett; a 3 at the 13th, by Mrs Mander; and a 3 at the 18th, played by Mrs O’Connor; while those juniors who complain about the length of the newly constructed sth hole should note well that Mrs Pearson, during the championships, secured a very easy 3 there. The week-end players have been playing Yankee matches in two divisions, the winners being Miss Madeley and Miss Woodroffe. In the playoff between these two Miss Madeley was the victor.
