PATERANGI WEDDING

CHAPMAN—SILVESTER A charming wedding took place at the Paterangi Presbyterian Church on September 27, when Louisa Mary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Silvester, was married to Mr Douglas B. Chapman, of Tarradale, Hawkes Bay. The church was beautifully arranged with spring blossoms by friends of the bride and the Rev. Mclntyre performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely frock of satin embossed Ottoman crepe, cut on classical lines. The bodice was softly shirred into a heart-shaped neckline and finished with a spray of orange blossom. The graceful skirt, .which was fashioned with a shirred panel at the back, fell to form a train. Her embroidered tulle veil was caught to the head by a coronet of orange blossom and fell to form a second train. She carried a sheaf of sweet peas, freesias and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by two of her sisters, Misses Ruby and Lily Silvester, who wore frocks of Buckingham lilac ring velvet. The bodices had heart-shaped necklines, finished with velvet flowers and fastened down the back with tiny covered buttons. The panelled skirts fell to form slight trains. They wore halos of toning velvet flowers and carried floral horseshoes of lilac sweet peas and violet pansies. The bride’s mother wore a figured frock of wine crepe elaine, a lightweight coat and a Bangkok hat to tone. She carried a posy of stocks and sweet peas. Miss Chapman deputised for the bridegroom’s mother and wore a powder blue sheer frock and a navy taffeta edge-to-edge coat. She wore a navy toque and carried a posy of scarlet anemones and lachamalias. Mr "W. Harrison, of Taradale, was best man and Mr Harold Silvester, the bride’s brother, was groomsman. The Reception A reception was afterwards held in the Paterangi Hall, which was prettily decorated with streamers of pink and mauve and the same colours
