Barnes and his wife, Diana Churchill, have never appeared in either a play or a film together. Very soon, however, they may be seen on the London stage. For some time, Barry has been searching for a suitable play, in which he and his wife could appear. Now he thinks he has found one. New one of the most popular leading men in British films, Barry has been working almost continuously for the past year. At the moment, he is starring in “The Midas Touch,” at Teddington. Directing it is David MacDonald, who, more than anybody else, has been responsible for Barry's screen success. It was MacDonald who first conceived the idea of casting Barnes in the reporter role in “This Man is News,” which was followed by “This Man in Paris.” Only recently, he was again in charge of Barry’s “Spies of the Air.” Mr Barnes was in New Zealand some years ago playing opposite Margaret Rawlings in the stage version of “The Barretts of Wimpole Street.”
