LADIES’ NIGHT

MORRINSVELLE ORPHANS’ CLUB The Masonic Hall, Morrinsville, was filled to capacity on Tuesday night, when the Orphans’ Club held its annual Ladies’ Night. Wives of the committee had decorated the hall most artistically and an air of festivity welcomed the members and their visitors. The president, Mr Stretton, was in the chair and kept the evening merry by interspersing the programme with humorous stories and topical quips. Those contributing to the enjoyable programme were as follows: The orchestra gave several pleasing numbers. Songs, Brother L. Echlin; Brother Richardson (Cambridge), violin selections; songs, Mrs Hitchman, Miss Lois Echlin; accordion solos, Brother Wyllie; songs, Brother E. H. Quill (Hamilton); songs, Brother J. Lee (Matamata), Mrs Quill (Hamilton); recitations. Brother G. Clark. The accompanists were Brother G. Lee, Miss L. Echlin, Mrs Sing, Brother Boyce, Mrs Quill. Among those present were:—Mesdames G. Lee, black ring velvet; W. Harden, moss green crepe; D. Alexander, powder blue satin beaute; R. Osborne, Oriental silk; A. Jenkin, blue velvet; E. Hitchman, wine crepe faille; J. Sing, navy patterned crepe; J. A. Ferguson, black and silver crepe; R. Gifford, black georgette embossed in silver; J. Waldson, black georgette and gold lame; J. Clarke, shell pink crinkle ninon; E. H. Quill (Hamilton), black French georgette over cyclamen satin; T. Large, black satin; A. R. Mayo, black ring velvet; C. Hughes, checked taffeta; M. Richardson (Cambridge), storm blue taffeta; A. P. Petersen, blue and white striped silk; F. Finn, storm blue cloque; Rodgers, blue and silver; W. G. Dunbar, fuchsia satin; Fenwick, petunia marocain; Austin Turner, black silk velvet with silver relief; H. Lennan, black georgette and silver lame; J. Wyllie, maroon georgette; L. A. Taylor (Cambridge), apricot crinkle crepe and black satin coatee; M. Case, floral marocain.
