NATIONAL CLUB

VERY LARGE ATTENDANCE TALK ON DAFFODILS There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of the National Club held on Tuesday afternoon. The lounge looked very attractive with bowls of purple irises, Iceland poppies and marigolds. Mrs A. A. McLean, vicepresident of the club, presided and the hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs A. W. Moore and Mrs J. Courtney. The speaker for the afternoon was Mr H. M. Hammond, whose talk on the cultivation of daffodils was listened to with keen interest and numerous questions were answered. Mrs A. D. Tarplett was the winner of a novel competition. Songs by Mrs Tarplett and Mrs C. Wilson (Ngaruawahia) were greatly appreciated. At the conclusion of the programme, afternoon tea was served by members of the social committee.
