FREE FROM EXCHANGE

PAY OF SOLDIERS OVERSEAS COST OF DENTAL TREATMENT (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Thursday Replying to a question by Mr T. L. Macdonald (Opposition—Mataura) in the House of Representatives yesterday, the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, stated: “The pay of the New Zealand soldier is 7s a day, and so much of it as is actually paid overseas will be free of exchange. “Where a man is classed temporarily unfit because of dental trouble and treatment is ordered, involving not more than six hours’ work, the Army Department meets the expense incurred,” the Minister said. “The question of accepting liability in cases where more than six hours’ treatment is required is under consideration.”
