HOTEL FIRE

ESCAPE IN NIGHT ATTIRE FOUR MAIDS’ EXPERIENCE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Wednesday In the fire which destroyed the Waiwera Springs Hotel early this morning four maids sleeping on the ground floor of the hotel owe their lives to the alarm given by Mr Darling. They thought someone was seeking accommodation for the night and did not fully awaken. When the meaning of the call penetrated, they rushed out in their night attire. Each lost personal effects, valued at about £2O.

The insurances are not available.
