THE MAUI POMARE

ALARMING REPORTS ALLAYED TROUBLE WITH ENGINE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The Government motorship Maui Pomare experienced engine trouble during a recent voyage and assistance was rendered by the light-house-steamer Matai. The Minister of External Affairs, Hon. F. Langstone, stated to-day that the mishap was in no way due to any malicious interference with the vessel’s machinery and there was no injury to the crew or vessel. The fruit cargo brought to New Zealand was landed in good condition. The Minister added that the publication of these facts should dispose of somewhat alarming rumours which have been current regarding the Maui Pomare.
