DENIAL BY ADMIRALTY WAS THERE NAVAL BATTLE? (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 26 The Admiralty has announced that no report has been received of a naval engagement off the Norwegian coast, as would have been the case had one occurred. It was stated in an official Swedish news agency broadcast tnat tnere was a naval battle off Bergen. Windows had been broken by the concussion on the Norwegian mainland, and houses in Bergen nad Deen rocked. The inhabitants of the Bergen archipelago were awakened at daybreak by violent gunfire and saw Hashes to seaward.
COPENHAGEN, Sept. 26
The Norwegian Admiralty states that yesterday’s cannonade has apparently been mistaken and confused with reports of dynamiting in connection with mining operations on Royky Islands, north of Gergen.
