The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, who has been visiting Huntly, returned to Wellington last night.
The Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, who has been visiting the Waikato, will return to Wellington tonight.
Sir Charles Norwood, of Wellington, who is m New York, has abandoned his proposed trip to England and hopes to return to New Zealand in October.
Messrs D. Wilkie (Wellington), J. G. Clark, W. E. Griffin, L. Edwards (Auckland) and G. Mackenzie (Wanganui) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Major J. M. Allen, M.P., was presented with a travelling rug and bag by members of the National Party at a gathering in the Ngatea Hail on Monday night, before his departure for camp.
Mr P. O. Bonham, of Hamilton, will leave for Wellington this evening to attend the first meeting of the committee set up to advise tne Government on the best methods of increasing pig production.
Messrs C. C. Lister, W. Burn (New Plymouth), H. Keane (Napier), H. McGuire (Hastings), J. Edwards, C. Mclntosh, J. W. Townsend (Wellington), W. McGuire, and J. Ellis (Auckland) are at tne Midland Hotel.
Mr W. J. Mount joy, secretary of the Wellington Employers’ Association, who was employers’ representative in the New Zealand delegation to the last International Labour Conference at Geneva, is expected to return to New Zealand shortly.
Dr. J. A. Watson has been appointed port health officer at Auckland. He has acted in this capacity at various times during tne past 10 years. Provision has been made for the position to be kept open for Dr. Watson while he is on duty with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
Major J. N. Peart, headmaster of King's College, Auckland, who has enlisted with the special military force and went into camp at Ngaruawahia today with the advance party, received presentations yesterday from the staff and boys of the school.
Messrs E. B. Smith and J. M. Bryce, members of the Hamilton staff of the Public Trust who left for Ngaruawahia camp today, were farewelled yesterday. The deputy-Dis-trict Public 'trustee, Mr F. M. Grundy, made presentations to tne men on behalf of the staff.
Dr. C. D. Henry, Surgeon-in-Chief of the St. John Ambulance Brigade for the Dominion, has been compelled to tender his resignation, owing to illhealth and has been posted to the reserve. The vacant position has been filled by the appointment of Sir Louis E. Barnett, at present district surgeon of the Otago district.
