SHEEP CHEAPER
VALUES AT FRANKTON COW BEEF SELLS WELL STORE PIGS VERY KEEN Price changes usually favoured buyers at the Frankton sale yesterday, when lighter to average entries came forward. Alterations in most cases, however, were usually only slight, the only really distinct change being experienced in the fat sheep section where values were approximately 2s per head lower. More heavy sorts were included in the average penning of steers. From £ls 11s to £l7 5s was given for extra heavy prime sorts and from £l3 15s to £ls 5s for heavy prime descriptions. Values, if anything, were just a shade lower, although some vendors obtained just the same money as last week. Best ox was quoted from 37s to 39s per 1001 b against 38s to 40s last week. Cows and heifers changed hands readily and there was no apparent alteration in values. Buyers paid from £ll 15s to £l3 for extra heavy sorts with a top bid of £l3 15s, while from £9 4s to £ll was given for heavy prime pens. Medium sorts, which comprised the bulk of the penning, made from £6 5s to £7 11s. No change was recorded in the price per 1001 b., which was again quoted from 35s to 38s for choice beef and from 31s to 34s for prime. Sheep and Pigs Although entries were lighter, there was little enthusiasm for fat sheep and they suffered the first distinct setback for some time. Prices were back by at least 2s per head, and in not a few cases were back further than this. Fat sheep ,iave been slipping back gradually
