PERSONS ON RELIEF
DECREASE IN BRITAIN IMPROVEMENT IN POSITION (United Press Assn.—Elec. TeL Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 25 According to an announcement by the Minister of Health, Mr Walter Elliot, the total number of persons in receipt of relief at the end of June was 1,031,421 —a decrease of 42,554 compared with the corresponding total at the end of March and a decrease of 8931 compared with the end of June, 1938. With the exception of the increases following the Easter and Whitsun holidays, there was a continuous decrease of persons receiving relief throughout the quarter ended June 30.
