MUSIC STUDENTS

‘ THE HAMILTON ASSOCIATION ROMANTIC CLASSIC EVENING The Hamilton Music Students’ Association continued its very successful season last night, when the programme was devoted to the Romantic Classic period. There was a large attendance of members. After the president, Mrs A. English, had introduced the subject in an interesting little talk, the following programme was given, each item giving keen pleasure:— Violin, Two Movements from Sonata % in A (Handel), Miss Margaret Wilson, Mrs J. R. Wilson at the piano; song, “My Mother Bids Me Bind My Hair” (Haydn), Miss M. Forster; piano, Three Part Invention in G (Bach), Miss Lois Echlin; song, “Cradle Song” (Mozart), Mr H. Primrose; piano, Nocturne in B Major, Op. 62, No. 1 (Chopin), Miss A. Gillies; song, “Pro Peccatis” from “Stabat Mater” (Rossini), Mr E. Quill; violin, First Movement from Sonata Op. 30, No. 2 (Beethoven), Miss Cecelia McLachlan, Mrs McLachlan at the piano; piano, Waltz in C Sharp Minor (Chopin), Mrs Burnet; songs, “Eleanore,” “Sing! Break Into Song” and “O Thank Me Not” (Mallinson), Mrs J. J. Seales. The accompanists were Mesdames H. Hammond and E. Quill and Miss N. Hayes. The usual pleasant social hour Allowed the programme.
