MINTLAW IMPRESSES FRANCIS DRAKE IN FORM BISQUIT OVER HURDLES (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday Althoug-h the weather was fine the koliik on the No. 2 grass track at Ellerslie this morning- was cutting out arter recent heavy rain, and consequently times were on the slow side. The best efforts were recorded by Mintlaw, over half a mile, Mon Acre over nve, and Summary over six furlongs, while Valinint and Francis Drake impressed over a round. Silver yuex arter running her first furlong In 14s, continued on to complete five In 1.7 4-ss. Palrnint strode over three furlongs In Sliver Stick traversed a round in 1.50 4 1s and Fldelis reeled off half a mile In 53 1-5. He ran his last six furlongs in 1.21 1- and the llnal half-mile In 53 4-ss. He worked very well and was not unduly bustled. Trevace was doing better than Wailarus at the end of half a mile in 545. the last three furlongs being completed in 40s. Pern Goes Well Pern strode over a round, increasing his speed over the last six furlongs, which he covered in 1.22 1-5, the hair-mile taking 545. He was going well within himself throughout. Valspear was not doing his best over six furlongs in 1.23 . Every Port came home from the six furlong peg in 1.23 3-5. being assisted over the last live furlongs by Miss Appellant. Francis Drake was holding Yalmlnt at the end or a round In 1.51 3-5. lie' ran the last six furlongs in 1.24 end the final half-mile In 55 3-ss. Francis Drake pulled very hard over the early part and impressed by bis elTort. • Mon Across Effort Mon Acre ran live furlongs In 1.7. He did the last half-mile In 52 3-ss, which was the best effort of the morning over the distance. Mlntlaw impressed more than Water Fox an d Whenua, running half a mile Ine 52 4-ss, which was the best or the morning over the distance. The best effort over ©lx Turlongs was recorded by Summary, who registered 1.20 2- the last h%lf-mile taking 53 2-ss. She was doing her work well at the finish. Hisquit gave a dashing display over Tour hurdles.
