OFFICERS AND N.C.O’S OTHERS CHOSEN THIS WEEK ENROLMENTS OVER 13,000 (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Monday All the 6600 officers and men comprising the special military torce for service in New Zealand or overseas will, in accordance with present arrangements, be in camp by October 6. Omcers and N.C.O.’s nave already received notices. The selection of other ranks is being made and the men will receive notices this week instructing them when they are to enter camp. Various units will proceed to various camps in the Dominion from October 3 to October 6. Up till Saturday night the total enrolments were 13,076, of whom 10,015 have been medically examined. Of* this total 5968 have been declared fit, 2758 temporarily unfit, and 1289 permanently unfit. Many temporarily unfit men have since been classed as fit after dental treatment, and it is expected that at least three-quarters of the temporarily unfit recruits will eventually qualify for the fit class for a similar reason.

LEAVING TO-NIGHT

TROOPS FOR CAMP DRAFT TO CHRISTCHURCH Men of the special military force of the Dominion who have been dratted to the machine gun corps, and others m tne lletd ambulance and hygiene sections, will encamp at Burnnam, Christchurch, the advance party going under canvas on Wednesday. Volunteers in tne Hamilton district who have been ehosen for instruction in these divisions will leave tonight by the limited express for Wellington. From the Northern Military District 72 officers and men of other ranks will join the Burnnam advance party. Registrations for the force in the Northern district now stand at 4989, the area ligures being: Auckland, 2130; Paeroa, 995; Whangarei, 688; Hamilton, 1176. So far 3151 men have been examined in the district. Of these 1998 were classed as lit, 874 as temporarily unfit and 279 as permanently unfit. RIFLES IN USE NATIONAL RESERVE TRAINING Attaining an excellent standard of markmanship, 50 Hamilton members of the National Military Reserve took part in rifle practice at the Hamilton East range at the weekend. The firing was controlled by Staff-Sergeant J. W. Coe, N.Z.P.S., who complimented the men on their showing. Major L. E. Haines and Captain S. N. Ziman, members of the Reserve, were among those on parade. Using .303 service rifles, the men each shot 45 rounds of ammunition over a 25-yards range in the forenoon, and Lewis guns were fired in the afternoon.
