CAMBRIDGE WEDDING
HANNON—GARLAND IVORY POULT TAFFETA GOWN Attended by over two hundred guests, a wedding of wide interest was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Church, Cambridge, on Saturday evening, when Norma, second daughter of Mr and Mrs B. N. Garland, of Karapiro, was married to Richard Capewell, only son of Mr R. and the late Mrs Hannon, of “Tinopai,” Hautapu. The Rev. C. W. Chandler was the officiating minister and Mr R. B. Boyce played the wedding music. The church had been beautifully decorated with rhododendrons and japonica in shades of lavender and pink. Entering the church with her father, the bride was wearing an exquisite gown of ivory poult taffeta modelled as a period frock. The bodice was softly shirred into a panelled front and finished with a Medici collar. Puffed at the shoulders, the long sleeves were fitting from the elbows to the wrists, and the full skirt was bordered with a quilted hemline and slightly trained. Her three-cornered veil of embroidered net, which had been worn by the bridegroom’s mother, was held to the head by a topknot of orange blossom, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of cream roses, camellias and hyacinths, with two wide satin trails. Her retinue of four bridesmaids was Misses Claire Garland and Phyllis Garland, wearing Buckingham lilac silk chiffon, and Misses Gwen Brunskill and Moina Lawry wearing hyacinth pink. Fashioned alike, each frock was designed with a becomingly draped bodice in Grecian style, a fitting waistband forming the corsage. The full circular skirt was ruched at the waistline and was adorned with lilac and pink interwoven sashes falling to the hemline at the back. On their heads the bridesmaids wore dainty coronets of hyacinths toning with the flowers in their bouquets. Anemones and sweet peas in shades of mauve were carried by two of the ’maids, and pink tinted gardenias and hyacinths composed the other bouquets. Mr Robert Nolan attended the bridegroom as best man, the groomsmen being Messrs Richard Sampson, Noel Burke and Murray Garland. Ushers at the church were Messrs lan Brunskill, Eric Anderson and Rex Garland. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Leamington Town Hall, the decorations being carried out in camellias and peach blossom. Mrs B. N. Garland received the guests wearing a graceful gown of viola lace with a mole coney square shoulder cape and a black Baku cire hat and veil. She carried a posy of anemones and violas. Later, when the bride left for the honeymoon, she travelled in a frock of praline pink under a mulberry coat with toning hat and accessories. Mr and Mrs Richard Hannon, jun., will make their home at “Tinopai,” Hautapu. List of Guests The invited guests were: The Rev. and Mrs Chandler, Mr and Mrs J. W. Garland, Mr and Mrs J. W.
