OBITUARY

REV. M. W. P. LASCELLES BAPTIST PRESIDENT-ELECT (By Telegraph.—Pre<=s Association* WELLINGTON, Thursday Advice was received from Cambridge (England) of the death this morning of the Rev. M. W. P. Lascelles, president-elect of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, aged 76. During the Great War he served as a Y.M.C.A. • Commissioner in England. •France and Egypt. He was president of the Baptist Union of New Zealand and the Missionary Society in 1919. * In 1922 he was appointed secretary of the Union, with headquarters in Wellington. He held this position for 16 years, relinquishing it to become a pastor in Cambridge.
