LOAN PROPOSALS
POSITION IN HAMILTON EFFECT OF WAR CONDITIONS The possible effect that the outbreak of war might have on tho Hamilton borough improvements loans occupied the attention of the Borough Council at a meeting last night when the matter was introduced by Mr F. C. House. “This is the time to inquire whether the council proposes to continue with the loan proposals,” said Mr House. “In view of the changed conditions throughout the world the council might have to review its policy in order to conserve its reserves for some more Important need.” “This matter has already received consideration," said the Mayor, Mr H. 14. Caro, “but it has been thought advisable to defer action for a time until it is possible to arrive at a clearer view on the outlook. Anything might happen within a few weeks. The matter will be discussed by the works committee and will be brought before the next meeting of the council.”
