MOBILISATION DATE
SPECIAL VOLUNTEERS PERCENTAGE DECLARED UNFIT SOME REQUIRE MINOR TREATMENT It was announced today by Major 8. F. Allen that officers and non-oommissioned officers passed for the special volunteer force would be mobilised on September 27 and men of other ranks on October 3. Many will be trained at Hopuhopu and Papakura, but others will be drafted to various training centres In other parts of New Zealand. About 103 single men who had enlisted were medically examined this morning and of that number 42 were medically or dentally unfit. Many of those who failed to pass the tests, however, were described as only temporarily unfit, and some minor medical or dental treatment would bring them to the prescribed standard. The men passed were of excellent physique. It was a busy day for the 14 doctors and four dentists engaged. Five medical boards operated in Hamilton today and one in Te Kuiti. Tomorrow, commencing at 8 a.m., a board will sit in Huntly to examine men from Huntly, Te Kauwhata, Ti Akau and districts in that area. AI 9 a.m. tomorrow boards will sit in Tc Awamutu, Te Kuiti, and Taumarunui.
On Wednesday at 9.30 a.m. a board will* examine further drafts ol volunteers in Hamilton.
