NORTHERN IRELAND
HELP FOR BRITAIN WHOLE RESOURCES OFFERED GREAT RUSH OF RECRUITS (United Press Assn.— Elcc. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 16 In keeping with traditions, Northern Ireland is proceeding enthusiastically to carry out the promise made by Lord Craigavon that she will throw her whole resources into the prosecution of the war. The powerful Ulster division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve has been at full strength for a long time, and the personnel, to a man, proceeded to their posts immediately on the outbreak of war, while army recruiting officers have been so overwhelmed with recruits in many centres that they have been compelled to close temporarily in order to clear up arrears. Anti-aircraft brigades of the Royal Artillery supplementary reserve are in the process of formation. Territorial units, mainly of atillery and engineers, have been at establishment for a long time, and recruits are now pouring into the armoured unit, which is taking the place of the regiment that performed distinguished services in the last war. Strong Link With Air Force Ulster was also a strong link with the Royal Air Force, and, apart from an auxiliary air force, there is a Royal Air Force volunteer reserve, into which, particularly since the outbreak of war, recruits have streamed for training as pilots, observers, machine gunners and wireless operators. Northern Ireland men are to be found in almost every branch of the Royal Navy, the special air force and almost every regiment of the British Army. In the marshalling and expansion of of her industrial resources in the present emergency, Northern Ireland is keeping step by step with the rest of the United Kingdom, sharing exactly the same restrictions and putting every ounce of effort into production.
