NEW ASSOCIATION

FAIRFIELD RATEPAYERS IMPROVEMENTS FOR DISTRICT At a well-attended meeting at Fairfield it was decided to form a Fairfield Ratepayers and Progress League for the purpose of advancing the district’s community interests. Subjects discussed at the meeting included rates, street improvements and drainage. As the meeting considered that these questions needed urgent attention it was decided to call another meeting for the purpose of discussing the position with representatives of the Waikato County Council. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr F. O. Knight; vice-presi-dents, Messrs T. A. Cooper and 11. Shalcrass; secretary, Mr H. Rintoul; committee, Messrs A. Philps, Kappely, Fowles, Snell and Lacey. It Is reported that the new association is likely to have a membership of more than 100 ratepayers.
