HAMILTON'S EASY WIN WAIHI DEFEATED B—2 b6YS’ AND WOMEN'S GAMES In a representative skate hockey match between Waihi and Hamilton, played in Hamilton on Saturday night, Hamilton won by the big margin of eight goals to two. The teams were:— Waihi.—Ward, Wells, Gollingwood, Gregory, Ludwig. Hamilton. —A. Hutson, J. Hutson, Hudson, Hawkins, Woods. Waihi won the opening bully, but almost immediately a free hit was ordered, and in one minute Hamilton had scored its first point. Fast seesawing play followed, until another score was recorded for the home side shortly after: Hamilton 2, Waihi 0. Playing faster because of this reversal, Waihi opened its account after a few minutes’ scramble for the ball. Near the end of the first spell there were numerous infringements, but Hamilton added another point just before the whistle blew, making the score: Hamilton 4, Waihi 1. A change was made in the Hamilton team for the second half, Hawkins being replaced by Woods as goalie. Two points were added to Hamilton’s score soon after the opening. Play at this stage became slower as the Waihi players tired. After Hamilton had secured yet another point the visiting team, in a desperate effort, carried the ball into its opponent’s goal: Waihi 2, Hamilton 7. The last goal came near the end of the match, making the final score: Hamilton 8, Waihi 2. The umpire was Mr N. Waugh. Other Results The women’s teams representing Waihi and .Hamilton drew, 2-all, in an unexciting though rough game, and i schoolboys’ match resulted in a win for Hamilton, 2 —l, against the Waihi team.
