HEAVY HAILSTORM EXTENSIVE SLIPS ON ROAD SNOW IN WANGANUI DISTRICT (By Telegraph.—press Association) WANGANUI, Friday A heavy hailstorm early yesterday covered the landscape with a white mantle. The hail thawed quickly, causing flooding and damage to houses through leaks. Orchards and gardens also suffered. There is a heavy coating of snow in the Kakatahi district. The Parapara road is again blocked by three extensive slips, which will take some days to clear. Three inches of snow fell in three hours in Taihape, and six inches in the hack country. Cars could not get through for some time in Hihitahi. ADVIOE TO MOTORIBTB BLIP ON PARAPARA ROAD Advice was received by the Hamilton area office of the Automobile Association (Auckland) that a slip blocked the Parapara Road, from Raetihi to Wanganui, today. It is not known when the route will be open. A heavy fall of snow resulted in the Ohakune-Taihape road being closed to traffic today.
