WANTON SLAUGHTER
CIVILIANS MURDERED PEASANT WOMEN CHASED EVACUATION TRAIN BOMBED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 16, 3 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 16 The New York Times correspondent at Krzemieniec says that German bombers are ravaging the country murdering women and children. Open towns have suffered the most atrocious, senseless and wanton bombing. Hundreds of civilians were killed when an evacuation train, in which journalists and foreign officers reached Czeremsza, was halted by severe bombing. Eyewitnesses describe the German planes as chasing peasant women working in the fields. Machine-gunn-ing of private motor-cars has become the favourite pastime of Nazi pilots.
