OKAUIA FUNCTION
KITCHEN EVENING Friends of Miss Grace Garter ga'Chered at the Okauia Hall recently to tender her a kitchen evening in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr John Garland, of Te Awamutu. The evening was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Miss Nessio Pennell, while extras were played by Messrs F. Burr and A. Julian (pianoaccordion). Mr Frank Garland carried out the duties of master of ceremonies. Mi* F. Burr asked Miss Carter to a.ccept the numerous gifts, with the best wishes of all for her future happiness and prosperity and Miss J. McDonald presented her with a posy lof violets and primroses, Mr John Garland returned thanks. Among those present were:—Mesdames E. W. Garland, senr., R. Harding (Matamata), J. Tapper, Arthur Carter (Matamata), B. Rallison, J. Jones. Misses Grace Carter. Nessle Pennell, Hilda Chilton (Matamata), May Barton, Phyllis Rallison, Myra Were (Matamata), Jean McDonald, Eileen Barton, Moira Garland, Annie Burr, Elswyn Garland, May Soames, Margaret Schwarz (Matamata).
