MUSICAL EVENING
DIOCESAN OLD GIRLS’ ASSN. TALK BY MISS HELEN HEYWOOD A delightful evening was spent by the Musical Circle of the Waikato Diocesan and Sonning Old Girls’ Association at the home of Mrs J. D. Smith, River Road, Claudelands, on Thursday night, when a large number of Old Girls enjoyed an exceptionally interesting programme. Bowls of camellias and daffodils were artistically arranged about the rooms, and bright fires added a cheery note. Instrumental trios by Mrs A. English (piano), Miss Helen Ileywood (’cello) and Miss Margaret Rowe (violin) were much appreciated and delightful violin solos and pianoforte solos were rendered by Miss Rowe and Miss Annette Gillies. Talk on China and Japan An extremely interesting talk on her recent visit to China and Japan was given by Miss Hey wood, who remarked on the cleanliness and efficiency of the Japanese and the bright splashes made by the vivid kimonos of the womenfolk. Mrs Smith was wearing a frock of wine crepe soie, and Miss Sheila Smith wore a black faconne gown. Those present were:—Mrs A. English, Mrs E. D’arcy, Mrs F. Brewer, Mrs 11. N. Hallet, Mrs Warwick T.
