BRITAIN TO “CARRY ON” STUDIOS HAVE O'WN SHELTERS “The full effect of the war on British film production has not yet been envisaged,” says the London correspondent of the New York Times, “but at the moment, on the fourth .day of the war, work on films in production is proceeding stubbornly. “With technical staffs half depleted. studios such as at Welwyn, Sliepperton, Ealing and Denham are carrying on their current schedules. Few key men, who mostly are over military age, have been called up. “The studios are well equipped with shelters, and this morning, after a raid warning. 350 extras checked in for work at Denham only 20 minutes late. Promptly "at 9.30 extensive shooting began, with gas-masks piled high on the sidelines. “Denham has a miniature Maginot Line under the stages, air-conditioned, boinb-proof and gas-proof.
