OBITUARY

SIR DAVID HUNTER-BLAIR (United Press Assn.—Eire. Tel. Copyright; LONDON, Sept. 13 The death has occurred of the Rt. Rev. Sir David Hunter-Blair. The eldest son of the 4th Baronet of Blairquhan, Ayrshire. He was educated at Eton and Oxford, and secured his B.A. in 1876, and M.A. in 1878. He was formerly a captain in the Prince Regent’s Royal Ayrshire Militia before becoming a Catholic priest. He was a Private Chamberlain of the Sword and Cloak to H.H. Pius IX. and H.II. Leo XIII. He entered the Benedictine Order in 1878 and was ordained a priest in 1886 being Rector of the Abbey School, Fort Augustus, from 1890 to 1895. He was sent on a special mission to Brazil in 1896. He retired to Hunter-Biair’s Hall in 1909 and has published many books, essays and articles on the Catholic religion.
