Newcomer Mary Healy Plays in “Second Fiddle”

A young Southern beauty known to a proud public as the “New Orleans Magnolia Girl” and to her family and friends as Mary Healy—brown-haired, brown-eyed and not yet 21—-was discovered by a 20th Century-Fox talent scout in of all places, a 20th CenturyFox business office in the Southern city. Brought to Hollywood more than a year ago, she was given chorus work and bit roles to train her for the cameras and now she has her first big chance. She was selected by Darryl Zanuck to play the role of Rudy Vallee’s sweetheart in Irving Berlin’s “Second Fiddle.” This was a real honour for Mary for this film has one of the greatest combinations of talent ever gathered for one show —Sonja Henie and Tyrone Power are starred, Rudy Vallee and Edna May Oliver are featured and six new song hits by Irving Berlin are included.
