SIX BILLS APPEAR
WORK OF PARLIAMENT SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES U*y Telegraph.—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Thursday Six Bills were introduced in the House of Representatives today. The most important was the Statutes Amendment Bill, which amends a large number of Acts. The measure, which contains 61 clauses of a miscellaneous and technical nature, was read a second time pro forma and referred to Lhe Statutes Revision Committee. The Wages Protection and Contractors Liens Bill, which was introduced towards the end of the sitting, consolidates the existing law relating to the payment of wages due to workers and of moneys due to contractors. The other four measures were of localised interest only. Local Bills were discussed during the afternoon, most of the time being occupied with the Wanganui Harbour District And Empowering Amendment Bill, the debate on which was interrupted by the team adjournment. Government Bills were taken at night and the Adhesive Stamps Bill, the Hire Purchase Agreements Bill, and the Meat Bill were put through ail stages and passed. The House adjourned at 10.3 C p.m., until tomorrow, when the Supplementary Estimates are to be brought down.
