TRACK VERY HEAVY URN DALE’S USEFUL THREE TIDEWAITER—L 0 WDNBERG (By Telegrapn.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Thursday Trainers liad use of the course proper at Avondale this morning:, the poles being--66 ft. out from the rails. The g-oing - was very heavy, in Tact it is doubtful if it bas ever been heavier, and consequently no rast times were recorded. Latest arrivals Include Gay Mimic, Kindergarten, Ned Cuttle, Majority, Gadgor and tbe two-year-old Gay Widow. Mai de Mer was first to work and came borne from tbe five furlong-s peg- in 1.8 4-5, the last half-mile 55 4 -5 s and the time for the fuff distance was not bettered duringthe morning - . Tbe Cup candidates Lowen-berg- and Tide waiter ran seven Turlong-s in 1.42, their last half-mile in 56 3-ss. Atkins lost an Iron between the three and four furlongs post and it affected the trial to some extent as both horses were being eased up over the last part. The three-year-old Royal Tray ran hair-a-mile in 555, hitting out well. Spearrord went away rrom the seven furlong post but did not have much pace on till he reached the three, being timed to run tbe latter distance in 41 4-ss. Hagen—Beaulivre Hagen ana Beaulivre had a good deal in reserve at the end of five furlongs in 1.9 2-5, the first two took 2 8 3-5 s and they were on terms at the finish. Kathbella occupied 54 4-5 s Tor hair-a-mile, her last three furlongs taking 40 1 -ss. Kena was going easily while traversing hair-a-mile in 59 4-ss, increasing the speed over the last three furlongs in 41 1-5'S. Erndale was clear or Bronze Emerald at the conclusion of four furlongs In 535. Bronze Emerald kept with Erndale till the last hundred yards but the latter then drew away. Pazeno had an advantage over Docility after running half-a-mlle in 54 2-ss. Majority and Ned Cuttle were out doing useful exercise and both look in great heart.
