WEDDING

NOLAN—McFARLANE VENETIAN LACE GOWN The wedding was celebrated on Saturday evening, September 9, when Margaret Olive Anderson, only daughter of Mrs J. McFarlane and the late Mr R. J. McFarlane, of Pine Terrace. Old Taupiri Road, Ngaruawahia, was married to Francis Trevor, second son of Mrs H. Nolan and the late Mr J. J. Nolan, of Campbell Street, Frankton. The ceremony took place at Knox Presbyterian Church, Ngaruawahia. The officiating minister was the Rev. R. P. Steele, and Miss I. Gerrard ’ played the wedding music. The bride, who entered the church with her uncle, Mr W. H. McFarlane, , wore a lovely gown of ivory Venetian stiffened lace over satin taffeta. The sleeves were at the shoulders and tapered to the wrists, the bodice being arranged with a heart-shaped neckline. The front and redingote fullsweeping skirt were finished with true lovers’ knots of taffeta and tiny sprigs of orange blossom and ivory tulle. Her beautiful embroidered veil fell from a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of white hyacinths, carnations and lily of the valley. The Attendants She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Joan Page and Miss Lsobel Walker. Miss Page wore a frock of deep ivory satin taffeta designed with full puffed sleeves, a high neckline, and a very full flared skirt, showing at the hem a petticoat of lobelia blue frilled taffeta. A top-knot of blue flowers, caught with a blue bow was worn in her hair, and she carried a bouquet of blue irises and hyacinths. Miss Isobel Walker wore a similar frock worn over a petticoat of rose frilled taffeta and a top knot of pink flowers in her hair. She carried a bouquet of rose-coloured anemones and freesias. The best man was Mr C. McFarlane and the groomsman was Mr R. 0. McFarlane, brothers of the bride. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Masonic Hall, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, Mrs J. McFarlane, who wore a frock of navy blue georgette with a coatee and hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of cyclamens, anemones and maidenhair fern. The mother of the bridegroom wore a navy blue sheer gown under a black fur coatee and navy hat to tone. When Mr and Mrs F. T. Nolan left by car for the honeymoon the bride travelled in a grey ensemble, a brown fur coat and accessories to tone. Their future home will be Hamilton.
