FARMERS’ UNION CONSERVING PETROL CONFERENCE WITH CARRIERS (Sreclal to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. With the, view of saving benzine the Morrinsville branch of the Farmers’ Union and Morrinsville Carriers’ Association met to discuss ways and means of eliminating the overlapping of lorries which now traverse the* same routes. Mr F. J. Shirley, representing the Carriers’ Association, stated that the carriers were making efforts to inaugurate a system of zoning. This arrangement applied to the carting of boibby calves as well as the cartage of cream. At the same meeting the Farmers’ Union unanimously carried a resolution that it pledge itself to assist the Government for the duration of the war in any way that its members could render most service to the country and Empire. A welcome was extended to Mr A. Blakely, the veterinarian recently appointed by the Morrinsville Veterinary Association. Mr Blakely referred to the various ailments affecting stock in the district and answered numerous questions. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE A new course of lectures In firstaid for members of the Morrinsville branch of the St. John Ambulance Association opened last night, when Dr. C. H. King addressed over 40 members in the Scout Hall. MORRINSVILLE GOLF CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. Following: are tne results or matches played at the Morrinsville links at the week-end:— Senior Championship.—Second round: M. J. Davies beat Goosman, 1 up; Ryan beat Needham, 5 and 4; Hammond beat Simons, 1 up; Somers beat Soanes, 2 up. Junior Championship.—Second Round: Blennerhassett beat Osborne, 3 and 1. Semi-final: Jones beat J. R. White at the 20 th. C Grade Championship.—Lowe beat Randrup, 5 and 4; Stewart beat Horan. The bogey competition resulted in a tie between Jackson and B. Guinmer, l down, Jackson winning on the count back. Other scores were: Blomfleld 3 down, Jones 4 down, Coombe 5 down, Osborne 5 down, Grant 5 down.
