ORPHANS’ CLUB
MEETING AT TE AWAMUTU (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday. The Te Awamutu Orphans’ Club held the final of the scheduled sessions of the season last night when there was an attendance of over 70 including a contingent from Iluntly, and representatives of the Cambridge ciub. Brother vice-president J. McLean was the chairman for the evening. During the supper interval, a show of hands was taken on the question of holding a further .session in the form of a ladies’ night and the proposal was adopted. Items were given by the following:—Brother Cowie (Huntly), songs; Brother Richardson (Cambridge), violin solos; Brother Randall (Cambridge), songs; Brother Brandred (Huntly), pianoaccordion; Brother Hopkins (Huntly), humour; Brother Fuller (Huntly), trumpet solos; the Huntly and Te Awamutu club orchestras, and the Te Awamutu Orphans’ choir. The chairman, in his address, described the working of an alluvial gold mine in Central Otago.
