PROVISION OF AMBULANCE DEAN WEATHEIiHOG'S SUGGESTION As the result o-f the suggestion made by the Dean of Hamilton, the Very Rev. T. P. Weatherhog, in his address in the Cathedral on Sunday that church people iu the Cathedral district give practical evidence of their Christian principles by providing an ambulance or mobile hospital trailer, Interest has been aroused and a fund opened. The record of the Red Cross and St. John Ambulance Association with their field ambulances during the last wab w'as magnificent, and it would be impossible to estimate the number of lives saved and suffering alleviated as the result of their work. Similar Work Probable There is no doubt that the Joint societies will be called upon to undertake similar work in the near future, in the opinion of the Dean, the Church should lead in supplying the necessary equipment for this humanitarian work. A committee has been formed consisting of Mrs H. C. Ross, Mr A. E. Manning, Mr R. English and the Dean. It appeals to ail who desire to associate themselves with this practical effort to send a donation either to tiie treasurer, Mr English, stale Fire Buildings, or to the Waikato Times office. -Ml donations will be acknowledged in the Times. Councillor’s Bicycle Ride Tho announcement that local body members are entitled to an allowance of petrol to enable them to attend meetings will be welcome to an Otorohanga county councillor. To attend the last meeting he pushed a bicycle 15 miles each way. Sir Osborn G. Ifolmden and Lady Holmdcn have arrived iu the Dominion from Finland. Sir Usborn was a director of the Inter-Allied Chartering Executive during the Great War.
