The No. 1 grass track was open and the best efforts were those of Llandaff over three furlongs, Silver Stick and Francis Drake over Tour, Royal Abb over six and Royal Appellant and Right Royal over seven. Several horses were schooled and some were given barrier practice on the two-year-old track. Silver Quex (Gilchrist) was first out and arter running her first furlong In 13s was going well within herself at the end or hair-a-mile in 52 l-ss. Aero Queen (Wiggins) and Trllllarch (Kerr) completed six furlongs In 1.21 2-5, the latter going the better at the end. Over a similar distance Pern (Farrell) recorded 1.20 4-5. He went fast early but was weakening at the finish. Aero King (Tremaln) finished up his work by running tbe last hair-mile In 53 1 -ss. Silver Stick (Farrell) and Francis Drake (Cameron) reeled off half-a-mile In 4 9 2- They had a lot pace on when they jumped away, running their first Turlong in 12s. Nevertheless, it was an attractive effort. Valspear (Coon) was timed to run the last flve furlongs of his work in 1.8 3- doing it comfortably. The two-year-olds Harmony (Markwlck), by Hunting Song—Wee Agnes, and the Beau Pere—Vervain colt (Cameron) finished clear or Goldrace (Wiggins) in a sprint down the straight. Harmony shaped well Tor a beginner. Mahala (Vaughan) got to the end or six furlonsrs in 1.22 3-5, the last hair-mile in 55 2-SS. Dutch Girl (Vaughan) hit out Treely over hair-a-mile in 51 4-ss. This mare is looking nice and fresh. Miss Appellant (Gilchrist) completed a mile in 1.4 8, the last seven furlongs taking 1.34. Every Port (Cameron) came home with her over the last six Turlongs which occupied 1.21, the final half-mile being covered In 53 3-ss. llandaff’* Good Throe Llandaff (Fearn) worked attractively whLle running three Turlongs In 37 2-ss. Surella (Kerr) was sent over the same distance, taking 38 l-ss. Beverley (Hearn) and Royal Message (Tremaln) were slightly ahead of Summary (Jenkins) after traversing a mile in 1.50., They ran the last six Turlongs in 1.23 1-5 and the final hair-mile in 55 1 -ss. Arter commencing slowly at the fivefurlong post, Orate (Murray) ran his last hair-mile in 50 3-ss. Tupeotu (Coon) and Adsum (Bruce) were going comfortably while traversing six Turlongs in Both these horses are in first-rate order. Melvanui (Wiggins) and Agog (Shields) were timed to run seven furlongs In 1.4 3. Agog was very lame when he left the course to return to the stable. * King Musk (Ritchie) ran the last six furlongs or his work in 1.23 4-5. 'Mon Acre (Messervy) was holding Loyal Grant (Gemmell) at the completion of half-a-mile in 52 2-ss. In a similar task Master Vaals (Cameron) occupied /63 4- s. The stablemates Sebrof (Murray) and Imperator (Gilchrist), got to the end or five Turlongs in 1.6 2-5, arter running the first two in 26 l-ss. Sebror, who was on the outside, impressed by his effort. A number of horses were given barrier practice on the two-year-old track, being sent away in two divisions. In the first. British Talent and Night Beam Jumped away best, the pair reaching the twofurlong post in 265. Night Beam then pulled up but British Talent went on to run five furlongs in 1.7 4-5. In the second division Water Fox, Maori Star and Black Peri showed most speed. Jumpers Schooled. Blsqult (Turner) and Tea Chat (Craddock) were sent over six hurdles, giving a good display. The going was considerably fsater than when they schooled last week. Melvanui (Williams) and Agog (Shields) were associated over two hurdles. Agog continuing on for Tour. Melvanui gave an improved display while Agog also jumped well. Electric Flash (Ritchie) gave a saTe display over two hurdles, jumping In good style. Glen Abb (Ritchie) was tried over a couple or pony hurdles. He cleared the first one saTely but, having little pace on at the second, blundered and lost his rider. Later when tried again he gave a good display over the fences. Sly Fox and Blonde Princess arrived at Ellerslie last night and were out doing pace work on the sand track flits morning. Both horses look in great heart and will race at Avondale on Monday. T. Green, who rode Sly Fox to victory at Wanganui on Saturday, will again have the mount on him. Konneta. Wapaugh, Fldelis, Soap Box and two youngsters belonging to Mrs Steinberg arrived from Riccarton yesterday and will in future be trained at Ellerslie by G. Holland.
