LESS RAGWORT

COLD RETARDS GROWTH VALUE OF SHEEP GRAZING The Inspection of properties for the presence of ragwort has been commenced by the overseer of the Waikato County Council, Mr G. G. Winter, but the county has been found to be particularly clean. Reporting to tbe meeting of the council to-day, Mr Winter said the unusually cold season, along with efficient stoking, had kept the growth well in check and only In a very few paddocks, reserved for dairy stock, could tie presence of ragword be observed. The benefit of sheep grazing for keeping the growth of ragwort in check has again been most apparent. Inclement weather and the retarded growth have prevented the commencement this season of operations In the country for the eradication of the weed.
