MODEL AEROPLANEB •me first meeting of Waikato aeroplane clubs in Morrinsville was held last Sunday. The day was overcast with a strong northerly wind. Results were:— Gliders, H.L.—T. Stone (Morrinsville), 20«; R. Twidle (Morrinsville), 15s. Fuselage, H.L.—A. Leong (Hamilton), 675; W. Read (Hamilton), 465; R. Twklle (Morrinsville), 455. Fuselage R.O.G. G. Penniket (Hamilton), 33 2-ss. Gas Models, R.O.G.—M. Pryor, 15m (out of sight) ; D. Tapp, 5m (out of 6ight). Both these entrants were from Te Kuiti PHYBICAL CULTURE In spite of wet weather and benzine restrictions, there was a fair attendance at the Morrinsville Physical Culture Club’s gymnasium on Wednesday night. Exhibitions of wrestling were given by the following: A. Begbie (11.8) v. George Spice (11.6); Gordon Spice (12.6) v. A. Hevvton (11.6); W. Pritt (12.6) v. Gordon Spice (12.6); Ted Best (7.10) v. A. Hirst (7.6); D. Ellery (7.0) v. H. Herbert (6.10); M. Allen (9.10) v. J. Allen (9.8); B. McDonald (6.0) v. A. Hirst (6.6); S. Cox (5.0) v. J. Roycroft (4.6). RED CROSS SOCIETY The Morrinsville sub-centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society has made appreciable progress since its inception. The membership has now reached 60 financial members. The lectures on first aid given by Dr. King have been well attended. Good response is being made to the call to service for the National Emergency Register distributed among financial members. The Mangateparu women have enrolled 22 members in thy course of two days to enable a class to be held in their district.

CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS NO POSTPONEMENT The Mayor, Mr W. Hetherington, presided at a meeting of the Morrinsville Centennial Committee, at which the postponement of the Centennial celebrations owing to the outbreak of war was discussed. It was decided to proceed with arrangements, as the committee was of the opinion that it was wiser to keep conditions as normal as possible.
