DEFAULTER AILS

SWOLLEN OFF FORELEG HANDICAPS FOR BIG EVENTS United Press assn.—Elec. Tel. CoDvrlirbtSYDNEY, Sept. 11 New Zealand horses are well represented in the Hill Stakes, of £SOO, weight-for-age, with penalties and allowances, one mile, at the Rosehill Racing Club's Spring Meeting next Saturday. Top weight is Defaulter, with 9.7, which includes a penalty 71b. Others engaged are Gold Rod. St. Constant, Royal Chief, 9.3; Te Hero, Respirator, 9.0; Beau Reipaire, 7.12; Pearl of Asia, 7.2. However, Defaulter will not be a runner, and he may even have to miss other important spring engagements. Defaulter had a hard race on a firm track in the Chelmsford Stakes on Saturday, and his off foreleg has filled badly, with considerable heat in it. Racing folk will be greatly disappointed if his campaign is seriously interfered with, as they have a soft spot in their hearts l’or him. Defaulter lias been treated to a course of physic. New Zealanders engaged in the Camellia Stakes, of £250, seven furlongs, wherein Bmzandt is top-weight with 9.4, are Te lfero 8.3, and Bonheur de Pere 7.2. The Derby colts High Caste, Reading, Wilson and Bonny Loch are entrants for the Rosehill Guineas, of 750 guineas, nine furlongs, which is likely to prove a very attractive race. Paddy the Rip, 9.0, Moorsotis and Glenora Boy, 8.9, figure in the High-weight Handicap, of £2OO, seven furlongs, for which Brazandt, 10.13, and Speardale, 10.8, are top-weights. Peerless is returning to New Zealand and is to be spelled before racing again.
